Surtees 22nd Annual Fishing Competition
Our 22nd Annual Fishing Competition will take place back home in Whakatane, with briefing on Thursday 18th February, and fishing from the 19th to the 20th of February 2027. We are looking forward to seeing you there for a couple of great days of fishing, a few drinks and some of the best prizes yet!
We are excited to continue to support our fisheries, and the competition remains “measure and release”, though it is up to you if you want to keep your catch or set it free for a few more years in the ocean. We will continue to make updates here and on our Facebook page over the next few weeks.

FISHING DAYS
Friday 19th & Saturday 20th February 2027
HIGH TIDES
Friday 5.49 am Saturday 6.47 am
START TIME
6.00am Friday 19th February 2027. All fish submitted in this competition must have been caught from a Surtees boat.
VENUE
Whakatane Sportfishing Club located on Muriwai Drive, Whakatane
REGISTRATION & ENTRY FEE
This year we will have a maximum of 300 anglers. Early entries registered and paid before the 15/11/2025 go into an early bird prize draw. Entries close on the 17/01/2027 or when 300 anglers are reached. Entry fee is $100 per person and includes a buffet dinner at the Club on Saturday night, a T-Shirt, and each crew gets a Goodie Bag.
